My September 2026 Reads
I love a good routine and especially one that genuinely works into my life. I have found a rhythm for sharing my reads each month and it feels like I have accomplished so much when it comes to this alone. This is a big win in my book as we continue into the last few months fo teh year.
Here’s everything I read in September
π By the Numbers
Books Read: 7 completed books which does include one book that I was 7% (out of a 1,600 page book) of the way through when starting the month.
Average Rating: 4.5 Stars
Favorite Book of the Month: I could not pick just one book! One Host Summer and Summer Thaw were my favorite books for the month!
π Second Shot (North Lake University #4) by Caitlyn Best
Rating: βββ.5 (yes, this is my first half star given)!
Why I Picked It Up:
I signed up to read the #2 book of the series; not knowing that I was going to have the opportunity to continue reading the rest of the series. Thank you again to Caitlyn Best (author) for the opportunity to read this book as an ARC reader!
My Quick Thoughts:
It was one of the more challenging books that I have read overall including one of Caitlyn’s other books. I did appreciate various angles that we saw from the two lead (male and female) characters with various relationships & people that were woven into the story. There was more focus on life outside of hockey and family became a huge part of the story overall. With that being said, there were SO many characters that looking back, I wish I would have started a piece of paper to write down little details about each one. There were at least 12 new male characters introduced at least 6 new female characters introduced. Yes, this is a lot of characters, but each one of them played a significant role in the life of the main female and male leads.
Would I Recommend It?
This one is difficult for a few reasons. At the end of it all, I am glad that I got to read it because several ‘old’ characters make an appearance in this book. However, there is trauma in different forms and I can see where there are two difficult topics that remain present throughout the story that would be triggering. This book is over 1,600 pages as well, so plan for this to take some time. As always, I definitely recommend reading this book in order as several characters and storylines intertwine.

I loved this very short story. This was light-hearted, fun, and yet full of adventure!

Without question! A great read for anytime of year with a reminder about the importance of communication and listening overall.
π Girls Just Wanna Have Sun by Rachel Lacey
Rating: βββ
Why I Picked It Up:
I received this eBook as part of a series of books that were included in a bundle from my Amazon account!
My Quick Thoughts:
It was a short story but hard to follow along with timelines, going back in time/previous encounters, and a few other details.
Would I Recommend It?
It was not my go-to type of read. It is not a short story that I would pay for on its own but grateful that it was included in the bundle overall (along with several other stories).
πOne Hot Summer Wedding by Falon Ballard
Rating: βββββ
Why I Picked It Up:
I received this eBook as part of a series of books that were included in a bundle from my Amazon account!
My Quick Thoughts:
Another short story and the second half of the story cruised by so fast! I could not believe that the book was done!
Would I Recommend It?
Yes! It was a great read! This felt like a true story with life happening in every single part of the book and so relatable.
π Summer Thaw by Rebecca Jenshak
Rating: βββββ
Why I Picked It Up:
I received this eBook as part of a series of books that were included in a bundle from my Amazon account!
My Quick Thoughts:
This has absolutely been my favorite out of the all of the books that came in this short story collection (or at least I think this came in the short story collection). I will always love reading about sports and romance and this was perfect.
Would I Recommend It?
An absolute yes! There is a good chance that I will even read the book again. It is one of the shorter books in the entire series that I got and the entire story went by so fast. If you love sports and romance, this is for you!!
π Save a Horse, Keep the Cowboy by Jessica Peterson
Rating: βββββ
Why I Picked It Up:
I received this eBook as part of a series of books that were included in a bundle from my Amazon account!
My Quick Thoughts:
This story was not boring at all. I was hooked immediately and despite it being a short story, I could have definitely read a full chapter book on this book (300-400 pages)! Despite not being a big farm / living out in the country girl, I appreciated the balance of this lifestyle and the story overall.
Would I Recommend It?
It was a great short story! It was difficult to put down when I had to for a short period of time. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants a great story overall with a hint of country life!
π Re-Read: Autumn in Charleston by Ann Morrison
Rating: βββββ
Why I Picked It Up:
I needed something different to read knew that I wanted to re-read this book (actually in my hands as a physical book)!
My Quick Thoughts:
I probably enjoyed it more this second time along! I caught small details that I do not think I realized at first when reading the book. It was so fun to re-read again, get immersed in the story again, and get excited for the next book to come!!
Would I Recommend It?
It is absolutely a must read! It is an easy read (could be read over the course of a single day or multiple days). A perfect book for fall especially, and this is coming from someone who also enjoyed the book during the summer time as well!. You can read more about this book in another blog post I put together!
